School tomorrow, November 18th.

Dear parents.
As you might know, changes will be made to the government regulation concerning school activities during pandemic, that was retified on the 13th of November. This governmental regulation is to come into effect on the 18th of November until 1st of December 2020 (sjá stjórnartíðindi https://www.stjornartidindi.is/Advert.aspx?RecordID=08c1391c-6b07-483e-9084-f37848110455 ).

As it happened, there was a misunderstanding between The Head of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and The Ministry of Health concerning practical application of the regulation, e.g. wearing of masks of students in 5.-7. grade, social distancing and etc. This calls for changes to the governmental regulation in accordance with The Head of the National Institute of Infectious Disease’s memo from the 16th of November 2020, ,,Viðbót við minnisblað 11. nóvember“ (sjá https://www.stjornarradid.is/library/04-Raduneytin/Heilbrigdisraduneytid/ymsar-skrar/vi%c3%b0b%c3%b3t%20vi%c3%b0%20minnisbla%c3%b0%20a%c3%b0ger%c3%b0ir%20innanlands%2018112020-2.pdf ). This will result in delay of the final draft of the regulation, but it is to come into effect tomorrow the 18th of November as previously mentioned.

In the light of this, we will adhere to the regulation that was ratified on the 13th of November until we have received changes to the set regulation. To conclude, tomorrow we will adhere to the same plan for school activity as has been decided until the regulation has been changed. The wearing of masks is still compulsory, social distancing, group seizes and all that we have been adhering to for the last days.

This is of course unfortunate and how things stand for at the moment, but mistakes are bound to be made. In times like these, we try our utmost to be understanding of this. We will send you the upcoming changes to school activities as soon as we get conformed changes to the existing regulation.

Best of regards.
